For four days before the class of 2008 graduation, over 40 volunteers from the St. Edward community joined the outgoing seniors to help prepare them for life beyond the Eagles' Nest. Headed by volunteer Tom Kueller, '79, the program included tips on financial management, resume building, interview skills, and other strategies for college survival. Students heard from experts in navigating credit card traps, evaluating used automobiles and preparing resumes, and each senior's experience culminated in a one-on-one mock interview with a volunteer. A number of incentives were generously donated by members of the St. Edward community, including $1000 toward the purchase of a computer for college, which was won by graduating senior Tom Lisy. The program from the four-day workshop is available here. Initial planning is underway for next year's event. Please contact Tom Kueller at tdk1260@yahoo.com if you are interested in joining the effort for the class of 2009.
